Contemporary Dance and Creative Movement Classes for Kids & Young People in Brighton & Hove.

Our Contemporary Dance and Creative Movement classes for Kids & Young People are welcoming, engaging and fun. Through natural physical movement, games and exercises we aim to nurture curiosity, creativity, confidence and well-being.

Many kids arrive nervous and shy for their first session, and within weeks they will be running into the studio and excited to dance! There is no need for prior dance experience as we welcome students of all abilities. New students joining us with prior dance experience will be placed in a faster paced class to suit their knowledge and technique level.

Sessions are a mixture of free movement, guided play alongside more formal teachings in technique, alignment and strength. Each student’s individuality, creativity and imagination is always kept in mind! Smikle students are encouraged to develop their own unique creative moves as well as collaborating, sharing and working together and supporting each individual class member.

KIDS & YOUTH 24/25 CLASS SCHEDULE

Classes in orange are part of our SYD (Smikle Youth Dance) creative talent programme and may involve an audition or trial class first.

MONDAY

4:20pm-5:20pm - Kids Creative Movement (ages 6 - 7)

(Children attending this class must already be in reception at school)

5:30pm-6:30pm - Senior Ballet (SYD Open Class) (13+)

WEDNESDAY

4pm-5pm - Contemporary Dance & Creative Movement (age 8 - 9)

5pm-6pm - Contemporary Dance & Creative Movement (age 7 - 8)

6pm-7:15pm - Contemporary Dance (age 9 -11)

7:15pm - 8:45pm - Youth Contemporary Dance. (14+)
