At BATCH I feel so fortunate to have stunning teachers and professional dancers to learn from each week, who treat you like a professional company member and are so approachable and honest about the dance world, training us in advanced ballet which includes pointe work, contemporary dance, where at the minute we’ve been going through Cunningham and Flying Low Technique. We start each day with Pilates which has really helped me focus on my posture, alinement and whole body awareness".

After completing the BATCH programme, Scout is now continuing her dance training at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London.

Kids Contemporary Dance Classes.

“My daughter started contemporary dance a few months ago at Smikle and she just loves dancing with Lee. Even though she never had dance lessons before, she improved fast and she understands music and dance rhythm at a different level now. Classes are very well structured, and children get to know each other and trust each other while dancing.

Lee managed to create a comfort zone, where children have fun while learning how to dance and get inspired.

“Having given up ballet as a teenager and now, 35 years later, a mum of four children of whom 3 love dancing and needed ferrying all over Brighton, I've keenly felt the need for another studio, closer to home in Central Hove, for many years. That wish came true when Smikle Dance Studio opened its doors in Third Avenue's mews early last year. Despite lockdown forcing it shut soon after, Lee Smikle became our online lifeline, Zooming into our homes from his studio with amazing offers on ballet, contemporary dance, fitness and barre classes and lifting our spirits daily with his infectious enthusiasm during such a bleak time.

With his wealth of experience as professional dancer, choreographer, teacher and artistic director with the likes of Matthew Bourne, Rambert and Laban to mention but a few, Lee offers a brilliant opportunity for young and old, beginners as well as those returning to dance in middle-age, to learn from the best in a creative, professional and nurturing environment.
